Honda XRE 300 First Ride With Helmet Cam

Intro

Now, in the previous video, I’d shown you everything that there is to know about my YAMAHA XTZ 125. No theory, only practice. The things that are important when you are out there, driving in Colombia. And it is something else, I can tell you that.

As I said earlier, I figured out that I need a little bit more demanding motorcycle. And these are the road conditions that dictate this. I traded in the YAMAHA XTZ 125 for the HONDA XRE 300. There’s no better way to tell you more about a new bike than – to take it for a ride and talk about it while being on the road. And I did. Before anything, I got myself a helmet cam and showed you the process of helmet cam fabrication. Right on the spot! So here’s how everything went on.

Welcome to driving in Colombia! This is why you need a dual-sport motorcycle! Because now we are on rocks.

Helmet Cam Fabrication

So, we’re gonna mount this camera up to my helmet here. We’re just doing it, we measured it out, we got this, the whole shop it’s super easy.

We drilled a hole here in the helmet. I mean it’s clean, perfect, tiny, little hole, totally good. When I’m not using this, let’s put something in there and be good. Anybody’s gonna say that this is dangerous, you know, whatever, go pound sand.

Now this is totally removable, that’s awesome. I have this mounted on my helmet now so we can take videos and drive. It’s awesome.

Maiden Voyage – Test Ride of the XRE 300

Well, here we are. The maiden voyage. I’m just testing the audio. Now you guys get to see the life and the driving. A real world.

All right, here we are, holy Colombian moto vlog. Dude that’s crazy! All right, let’s go the other way.

This is amazing. It’s better than I could have expected, man. I thought about this for quite a long time. So we’re driving around Manizales. We’re kind of south of Manizales here.
Rolling through. I don’t think this is a place where I can go. It’s a little off the beaten path of the beach. A real freaking moto vlog dude, keep an iPhone, this is amazing. Some Colombian driving for you!

All right, the path is no more. Welcome to driving in Colombia! This is why you need a dual-sport motorcycle – because now we are on rocks, we have to turn around. Look at how bad that is, I don’t think this goes anywhere. And we don’t want to get caught behind anything.

Where can I freaking change? I need some flatter ground. Well, there’s a great example of why you want a very light motorcycle because there are tons of situations like that.

How do I freaking turn around? I guess we’ll just keep going.

It’s like turning around on a downhill. This is terrible! It’s just not really possible, especially when it’s like a rock laid in place. Look, we’re getting steeper here. Steeper and more off-road. This is why you have to have a dual-sport bro, you need grippy tires and you can’t go too heavy on the bike dude, because shit’ll try you, bro, this will try you, hard man.

Let me adjust my camera here. This is the setup.

I’m rolling downhill. It’s tough bro. Welcome to the real wrong route. It’s called “wrong right where the heck am I”.

This says Despisito in the other direction. I don’t know if we’re going down. Don’t want to be going the wrong way down a hill like this. Do you go down the wrong way on a treacherous defense over there?

I don’t know, we’ll figure it out though. Probably not. Starting to rain a little bit. When this road gets dark it’s probably slippery and slick.

All right, this is where we just pull, we just made that little circle. There’s a homie, young homie Louise hooking it all up. We’re gonna get back.

There’s a reason why the big bike just can’t do this. There’s just no value in a big bike bro. I don’t think I would want bigger than this. The roads are too technical for anything heavier.

I love the sound of a bike with a double overhead damn fuel injection. It’s so much zippier.

Have a little bit of fun! That was the smoothness guys. Leave a like if you like some slaw days.

Review of the XRE 300

I got to do a review of this motorcycle now. Where can I do it that’s the question. Where can it be… We’ll do it in front of the church like the other one. What do you say? I love the church. All righty.

That was a total success. Wow, Louis over at that shop really hooked it up, that’s all I needed.
So we’re getting rained on here.

Here’s the bike first impressions, dude!

This bike must have some sort of super-light flywheel because this thing revs like no bike I’ve ever had before this. The thing goes like from 2000 to 8000 RPMs. Faster than any bike I’ve ever had. It revs like crazy. The fuel injection is great, the intake sound is good, the suspension is a real suspension, dude. There’s real travel
on this bike. It’s not too heavy, headlights are way better, the gauge is freaking awesome, the
gauge is as complex as you need it and no more. Let me turn this thing on. There’s your gauge, gasoline, fuel consumption, instantaneous and purge trip, tachometer trip, getting smoked on front and rear, disc brakes. What else man, the exhaust sounds good. I don’t know all around a way better bike than the XTZ, it’s double the bike for double the price. It’s the only way to say it. I enjoy it, it’s huge. This is a tall bike view, you can see over cars with this motorcycle. I’m really about it.

Thanks for watching guys!

You guys probably want to hear a little exhaust note, but I guess you’ve been riding. We’ll start her up here, you can hear the fuel pump prime, you got to let that prime first. Sounds good.

Thanks for watching folks!

In HONDA Dealership

So I’m in the HONDA dealership here and I traded in the XTZ 125 for the XRE 300 and the whole process was like the easiest thing I’ve ever done in my whole life. They gave me a very fair price for the XTZ, which I just bought in the United States. You get a much lower price than what you had just paid for it if you buy something new. But here they gave me almost what I paid for the bike so it was very very good. And then I got one of these I got the year older version. These are the XRE 300, it’s actually right outside, but I want you to meet Jacob here. Jacob speaks perfect English. This is my new ride here. And he spent the day writing these in the evenings, doing motorcycle deals.

  • What’s up? This is Jacob, you just helped me buy this motorcycle here. See, he speaks perfect English, see, perfect in my book.

If you come to Manizales, he can definitely help you out. This is a family-owned business, his father’s over there, and they’ve got a great staff here. It was really easy, so if you’re in Manizales – come here to see Jacob at the HONDA dreams.
