How to get to Manizales.
You have three main options to get to Manizales from Medellin. Planes, Buses, or Private Car. A plan is going to run you between USD $45 and $150 depending on when you book. I booked my flight two days before and it was $90. If I had booked a week in advance, i’d be flying for 50 bucks. And also, to mention these are all options booked out of the Olaya Airport (EOH) or Terminal Sur in Medellin. So you’re flying out of the center of the city. Option # 2 is to take a bus, these leave twice a day typically out of terminal Sur. Prices range between 10-25 bucks for a bus. And the duration is between 5-10 hours. The variability is due to the quality of the road. It’s only 120 miles by bus but its all stop and go right now. The final option is by private driver. This will run you a hundred bucks but its definitely possible if you’re in a pinch. Don’t forget that this is still probably 1/3rd the price a trip like this would cost in the USA.
