Zacatecas Mexico – Things To Do When You Travel

It seems that every city in this part of the world has this market part of the street. Here you can buy everything and anything: from food to drinks, from tools to clothing. You can also hear local music, see the authentic colors of the place and feel the dynamics of the town.

I had lunch in a small, family business. The lady preparing the food is amazing. She takes a scoop out of each dish that she prepares and makes roja salsa. She moves so fast and does everything with such ease! She also makes and beaks tortillas. I will make some small burritos for myself. I put only a little salsa since it was so very HOT! You feel like being in granny’s kitchen.

I was offered a local drink, but I stick to coke, just in case. Don’t want to risk anything right now. And the pricing is amazing – portion this diverse and rich costs just $2,50.

My Favorite Lookout Route

Later on, I went on for a ride with my bike. It is better and safer to use the microphone it’s so much better for the audio. I also have headphones, but they are not so safe to use when riding the bike. This place is very close to Zacatecas. Mexico is pretty amazing, I have to admit that! It was some ride to Veto Grande. So close to the city and such a wild west! I was at 8,600 feet in the air, and it is some thin air that makes it hard to ride I can tell you that! And you don’t get to see the desert very often.

You know that I am a great fan of the mountain views. I am making this video for myself, not for you!

This is one of my favorite lookout points on this route to Veda Grande. Everything looks old and rusty. Just right kind of cool in my books!

A couple of minutes later, I came across an active fire in the area! I stopped to see it, and it was heading towards a small church up the hill. It was so unreal being in the middle of it! So much wilderness was burnt to the ground.

I felt it was hurting my chest a little bit. I had to move on from that place.

Is Zacatecas a Main City in Mexico?

I would say it’s a medium-sized city. It does not compare to it’s closest city of Monterrey. it is dwarfed by CDMX, Queretero, and the likes. I would compare the size of Zacatecas to more like that of Oaxaca.

Does Zacatecas have a beach?

Zacatecas has a ton of sand and it is very dry. But there is no beach. Zacatecas is in the middle of the desert.

Is Zacatecas Safe?

Zacatecas is not terrible safe. There is a ton of tourism in Zacatecas, and I walked around at night without any issues. But many people and many homeless people would frequently ask me for money. It is also known as one of the highest murder rate cities in Mexico. There is a ton of cartel activity, so I hear. But really, it’s not too bad. Definitely doable.

How much is rent in Zacatecas Mexico?

I was able to rent a decent apartment for $500/ month in zacatecas.
